Where Travel Meets Human Cooperation.
100 Hostels
100 hostels. 15 countries. One lesson. Human cooperation works.
After visiting more than 100 hostels around the world, we discovered that a hostel is much more than a place to sleep. It is a living ecosystem where strangers meet, share, collaborate, and create temporary communities.
Our Story
Every hostel reflects its environment, its culture, its hosts, and its travelers. Some are vibrant social hubs. Others are quiet sanctuaries. Each one reveals something about how humans organize themselves and cooperate.
Over two years of travel across fifteen countries, 100 Hostels became a journey into the mechanics of community, belonging, freedom, and resilience.
What We Learned
Human Cooperation
Hostels are living demonstrations of cooperation. Rules, culture, and shared values emerge naturally when people work toward a common atmosphere.
Temporary Community
A hostel is temporary co-living. People arrive as strangers and often leave as friends connected by shared experiences.
Shared Experiences
The communal kitchen is often the heart of a hostel. A shared meal creates conversations, friendships, and memorable moments.
Resilience
The hostel world demonstrated both fragility and strength, especially during times of global disruption. Communities survive through adaptability and human connection.
The Vision
What would happen if we could build a hostel inspired by the best lessons from one hundred others?
A place intentionally designed to:
- Encourage meaningful human connection
- Balance freedom with shared responsibility
- Support travelers, creators, and remote workers
- Foster sustainability and cooperation
- Transform temporary stays into memorable experiences
This is the vision behind 100 Hostels.
